DEJA THORUS Remember in the one book of Edgar Rice Burroughs, where Deja Thorus had been captured by the evil Zagga people and sentenced to live the rest of eternity, her mind and body embedded in the root of the Partula tree? Well, neither do I. But if that had happened, it might have looked something like this. Truth is, I was working one weekend and a weird concept flitted into my brain. A while later, this was the end result. I Really liked her but was resigned to the fact that Deja and I would probably be spending a whole lot of time together. About a month later a gal wandered into the gallery and disappeared into the back room where I kept the strange sculptures. She came out with a strange look in her eyes...had to have Deja Thorus. And that's what it's all about, creating something really over-the-top and then finding someone who's equally weird and enjoys it.
