A Passion for Metal: Video below

Of all the sculptures I've created, this is in my top-ten list of favorites.  The genesis of this piece was an off-handed trip to Rice's Flea Market in Bucks County Pennsylvania...to get sour cream cheesecake and Canadian bacon.

On the way in, we passed a row of tables with every kind of junk imaginable...old lawnmower parts, majolica bowls, old toys from the 30s, and sticking out unceremoniously from a cardboard carton were two women's legs.  The head was in another box, full of cobwebs.  Even a mannequin deserves a better existence than that and my wife and I decided to rescue her.

Back at the shop, I began putting her back together and, maybe I've watched too many Twilight Zones in my time, but as she began taking shape things began to happen.  She reminded me of Deja Thorus in the Edgar Rice Burroughs Martian books...Dejau, the Princess of Mars.  That was the starting point though this Deja would have wings and would be armed to the teeth!
