If you've spent more than thirty seconds on our website, you know that we take a perverse delight in telling candid back-stories about our sculptures...how they came about...why they came about...mistakes we've made. Blue Gears is no exception! When I was in the midst of writing A Passion for Metal, plus taking all the photos, it occurred to me one day that we had a whole bunch of sculptures that were basically the color of copper. Coincidentally I had just bought my very first PhotoShop program and was playing with all the buttons to see what they'd do. I came across the "hue button" and began sliding the switch back and forth. The sculpture on the screen went from copper to orange to purple...to blue. Pamela happened to be walking by. She stopped and said, "Wow, I like that!" I smiled, kept my mouth shut and then raced back to the studio to make the copper abstract on the screen into...Blue Gears.
